This page explains how HiBye users can request deletion of their account and associated app data.

1. Delete your account inside the HiBye app
If you can open the HiBye app:
- Open HiBye.
- Log in to your account.
- Open Settings.
- Open Delete account.
- Confirm the account deletion request.
When confirmed, HiBye starts account deletion for your signed-in account and revokes active sessions.
2. Request deletion by email
If you cannot access the app, send an email to:

Include the phone number or email address used for your HiBye account. If you use a phone number, include the country code where possible, for example `+91`. We may ask for verification before processing the request so that we do not delete the wrong account.
3. Data deleted
After account deletion is processed, HiBye deletes or anonymizes account data associated with your account, including:
- Account profile details such as display name, bio, interests, and profile visibility settings.
- Profile photos uploaded to HiBye.
- Device sessions and refresh tokens.
- Push notification tokens.
- Discovery/crossed-path history associated with your account.
- Hi requests, matches, and chat access associated with your account.
- Support tickets and safety reports where they are not required for abuse prevention, legal compliance, or service security.
4. Data that may be retained
Some data may be retained for a limited period when needed for safety, fraud prevention, dispute handling, legal compliance, or service security, including:
- Safety reports and moderation records.
- Abuse-prevention logs.
- Transaction-free operational logs and security records.
- Records needed to prove that an account deletion request was handled.
Retained records are kept only as long as reasonably necessary for these purposes and are then deleted or anonymized.
5. Deletion timeline
In-app deletion starts immediately by disabling account access where supported by the HiBye backend. Complete removal from all active systems and backups may take up to 30 days, unless a longer retention period is required for legal, safety, fraud-prevention, or security reasons.
6. Data not controlled by HiBye
HiBye cannot delete data stored only on another user's device, such as screenshots or content that another user saved outside the app. HiBye also cannot delete data independently controlled by third-party services, except where those services process data on HiBye's behalf under their own deletion processes.
